CoblePhoto of the Day The last of the year’s migrating Bald Eagles are streaming down the ridges of the mid-Atlantic region and many of them will be stopping for at least a part of the winter season along the lower Susquehanna River. If you want to see them, now is the best time. Taking a walk along a riverside recreation trail is a relaxing way to spend some time checking them out. To see the greatest concentrations of these majestic birds, plan a visit to one of the lower river’s hydroelectric dams. Conowingo Dam, located where U.S. Route 1 crosses the river at Rising Sun, Maryland, is currently hosting dozens of visiting eagles. If you’ve never been there, we can assure you that it’s certainly worth the trip.
